By 1998, images were becoming more prevalent, and text was already starting to fall back some. With early websites, the pages would be full of nothing but text, but now, web designers figured out that less is more.
By the end of the 1990s, Google emerges, and will change how websites are viewed and used. Around the turn of the millennia, animation enters the picture. Websites can now animate their home pages, and show off different ways of being able to use menus. Instead of having to have a menu that listed every single option, drop down menus were now widely being used.
Starting In the Ought’s
Flash animation became huge in the early 2000s. Every website around had something with a flash animation on it to try and catch a viewer’s attention. Over 16 million colors are now able to be displayed on modern monitors, and people are viewing web pages in greater detail than ever before. MySpace, WordPress, and Facebook are launched in 2003, followed closely by YouTube in 2005, and all of these change the future of web design in ways that were still unknown at the time.
Towards the end of the oughts, pages of websites were long and expected users to scroll top to bottom. Stock photos became incredibly commonplace, and shadow and realistic designs were the rage on newly designed websites. The first mobile browser came in 2007, and revolutionized how people could look at websites.
